New Balance Men's MR1064 NBx Running Shoe Aug 27, 2010
I have recently joined the Air Force and the job I have chosen to do is Pararescue which is part of their Special Forces division so I needed a good pair of shoes to stand up with my intense training regiment and running. These do the job flawlessly I've tried other shoes like Reebok, Adidas, and Nike, and they sucked when it comes to running they do have advantages for other things like training in the gym and looks but that's about it. These work in any environment (e.g. dirt, sand, pavement, hills, beaches) so they're a good choice. They also look great while in the picture they look good once you get em they stand out. I bought the silver, red, and black color and yeah they do have a lot of shiny silver on them but hey that's for safety in you run at night and for looks as well. I would definitely recommend these shoes to anyone looking for a good pair even though they are pricey they're worth it.
Assembled in the USA Jul 13, 2010
I have purchased New Balance for many years, and they are quite satisfactory. I now have a couple dozen miles on these and they are as good as any shoes I have had in the past. I pay close attention to the cushioning abilities due to heel pain. The MR1064 has good cushioning, but like many synthetic rubbery materials, it will lose its resiliency over time. I chose these because I anticipate fairly frequent replacement due to loss of cushioning, and prefer to give my money to a company that is at least partially American-made. I just replaced a pair of Spira shoes with the steel cushioning springs, and while the cushioning is excellent, the other materials wore out crazy-fast around the springs - so frequent replacements would send more money to China. Just FYI, the picture does not reveal the extreme silvery nature of these shoes - the silver color is very shiny and almost overwhelming.
Great Running Shoe Jul 08, 2010
I purchased this shoe to help me with my training to enter the military, and I've had problems in the past getting a quality running shoe that comes in a 4E width. This shoe has held up well in any condition I've thrown at it; and feels sturdy without being too heavy on the foot. I was also pleasantly surprised when I discovered that my shoes were made in the USA.
Best Running Shoe Ever Jun 28, 2010
I purchased these for my husband (a US Marine, and avid runner) because he always buys the cheapest shoes he can when left to his own devices, and pays the price in blisters, abrasions, and numbness. These shoes survive an average of 7-10 miles a day in varied conditions- hills, street, beach, etc. They are lightweight, breathable, and very comfortable. With shoes, you get what you pay for, but here on Amazon they are an average of $40-50 less than I found them locally. I highly recommend these shoes, with one caveat- the red dye they use on the insole does stain white socks. Other than that, which I consider a minor price to pay for comfort, they are an excellent buy.
Good shoe for heavy guy. Dec 31, 2009
I'm a stocky 195 pound guy so I needed a "heavyweight" running shoe. After doing some research, I found out what type of shoe I needed and was referred to these NB 1064 nbx's. They are comfortable, cushiony and have plenty of toe room. The roll under your toes propels you forward nicely too. I got the white/navy shoes. They're not too flashy and look good with jeans. Go half-size bigger.
